BRAZILIAN JIU-JITSU

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (AKA Jiu-Jitsu or BJJ) gained world wide recognition in the early 1990s when the Gracie family, inventors of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, showcased its dominance in the Ultimate Fighting Championship. Using its innovative offensive attacks and nearly impenetrable defensive schemes, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu quickly exposed the weakness of pure striking martial arts by soundly defeating them in the early UFC tournaments. Today Brazilian Jiu Jitsu continues to evolve and adapt to remain the world’s most singularly effective martial art.

Although Jiu Jitsu has proven its combat effectiveness in Mixed Martial Arts, it should be noted that its daily practice is strongly removed from full contact Mixed Martial Arts. Our Brazilian Jiu Jitsu classes do not involve full contact striking or kicking. Instead, the teaching focuses on safe and proper techniques that can be practiced on a daily basis with no more risk of injury than any other safe contact sport. This makes its practice unique in that it is the only martial art that allows students to safely spar at 100% intensity and thereby providing countless hours of realistic combat training.

MUAY THAI

Muay Thai or “The art of eight limbs” is a traditional Martial Art that originated in Thailand in the 18th century. Muay Thai is a traditional combat sport specializing in stand-up striking, which includes kicks, punches, knees, and elbows in addition to clinching techniques.

Mazu Muay Thai was founded by Cole Stringer. Cole started his martial arts journey in Taekwondo as a kid. Later he transitioned to San Shou before finding Muay Thai. Throughout that journey, Cole competed in San Shou, Muay Thai (pro & amateur), and MMA. Cole continued his training when he was assigned as a Combatives Instructor for the U.S. Army. While there, he earned the Master Combatives Instructor Certification.

Cole has been coaching Muay Thai for the past 9 years. Passing on his knowledge from beginners to professional fighters.

Competition Class

In order to prepare our Teens/Kids to compete, we offer a class specifically focused on:
 

  • How tournaments function

  • How matches are conducted, scored, timed & refereed

  • Match strategy

  • How brackets operate

  • How to compete in individual matches
     

We do this by providing every student the opportunity to compete in practice matches, preparing them to compete in major tournaments at the State, National, & World levels.

Bootcamp

Boot Camp is our high intensity fitness and conditioning program. It is designed to transform men and women into the best possible shape of their lives and focuses on:
 

  • Overall Fitness

  • Cardiovascular Conditioning

  • Total Body Strength

  • Weight Control

  • Flexibility

​This program is specifically for men and women who do not desire to fight competitively but have a tremendous desire to reach and maintain their personal maximum level of fitness and conditioning.

Kids & Teens

We love guiding and watching our kids and teens develop physically, emotionally and socially. Our kids/teens program is exciting, structured, disciplined and appropriately challenging. We accomplish this through our carefully focused program which uses important physical fitness exercises, basic practical Mixed Martial Arts, self-defense, and fun skill-developing games.

From our coaching staff to our facility, Safety is our number one priority. We provide the safest mats, padded equipment, experienced supervision and no full-contact striking or kicking.
